The Music 4U Home and Mobile Music School was
established in 2007. Our goal is to
 provide the
structure and high-level learning experiences
available in top-notch school music programs, but in
the safety and security of the private home
environment. The lessons can either be taught in the
home of the student, or the student can travel to
the teacher’s home studio, located in Lithonia.
Our emphasis is on a comprehensive approach to music
education. The development of performance skills on
a musical instrument serves as the foundation.
Lessons are structured where students will also
develop high level skills in music reading and music
theory, as well as a general knowledge of music
history. Private lessons are available for students
ranging in ages from 5 to 75, and our private lesson
format is ideal for the HomeSchool student, where a
curriculum can be developed to allow for elective
credits in music.

For Mark A. Thomas, the founder of the Music 4U
School, variety serves as the key word. From his
upbringing in the Decatur, Georgia, school system,
to undergraduate study at the University of Georgia,
to graduate level degrees from Georgia State
University, and culminating with a 20-year career as
a band director in the public school system, Mr.
Thomas became comfortable teaching and working with
people from a variety of cultural and social
backgrounds. From being a low brass music major in
college, to regularly performing around town as a
bass guitarist, to serving as pianist and youth
choir director at a local church, to teaching
private piano lessons for the past 14 years, Mr.
Thomas is proficient in playing and teaching a
variety of musical instruments.
Along with tutoring in music history and music
theory, Mr. Thomas provides private instruction for
beginning and intermediate level students on the
following instruments: piano, trumpet,
trombone/baritone, tuba, and bass guitar. For
beginning level students, instruction can be
provided on the electric and acoustic guitar, flute,
clarinet, and saxophone.
